With “Half-Timbered Houses of the Siegen Industrial Area Today”, by Thomas Kellner, the artist of the same name follows in the footsteps of Bernd and Hilla Becher and the search for the intersection of documentary and artistic photography, of objective distance and penetrating closeness.
From March 4 to June 2, 2023, the half-timbered houses of the Siegen industrial area today, by Thomas Kellner will be on view at the in focus gallery in Cologne. A series of works that plays with the technical possibilities of today and the photographic heritage of the Bechers and still takes direct reference to the home of the artist. In his work, he pursues a trilogy in which he takes up artistic positions of the region, for example by the Bechers or August Sander, combines them with motifs of the Siegerland and asserts himself as an artist of the region.
